The REANNZ workshop on High Performance Computing will be held
in
The Research and Education
Advanced Network New Zealand (REANNZ see www.reannz.co.nz
) is building a next-generation telecommunications link for New Zealand
educators, researchers and innovators, called KAREN (Kiwi Advanced Research and
Education Network, see www.reannz.co.nz/about/).
REANNZ has established a Capability Development Fund for KAREN (see www.reannz.co.nz/home). The fund contains over
$4m to be invested in capability development over the three years to June 2009.

Workshop Terms of Reference:
1. Provide an update or
inventory on HPC and related resources and plans (e.g. existing facilities,
current projects for processors, grid middleware tools and networks);
2. Reach
a preliminary position on the desired state for HPC resources, their use and development
to meet anticipated requirements and opportunities;
3. Identify areas of
coordinated activity (e.g. coordination of bids to RIAG; participations with
private sector and economic development groups which are needed to
achieve specific outcomes, or to make progress in the agreed direction; and
4.
Agree and allocate tasks needed for next steps.

The workshop venue is the
Chateau on the Park Hotel, 189 Deans Avenue, lunch with the AUSHEP participants
begins at 1300pm and the meeting itself from 1400pm. The workshop
(and afternoon tea) are in the Camelot Room, while lunch is in the Tower
Room.
