Professor Phil Burrows, head of the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science at Oxford University will be a guest of UC Department of Physics and Astronomy in 2008 from 11 September until 17 October.
Prof Burrows will present some undergraduate and graduate-level lectures, as well as participating in Physics Outreach activities. |

Imaging with Ionizing Radiation in Medical and High Energy Physics
The new Tertiary Education Commission Innovation and Development Fund project "Imaging with Ionizing Radiation in Medical and High Energy Physics" has finally been signed off, with Phil Butler as project leader.
The project combines a CMS/Medipix Imaging project with the CPIT's development of VIPER - a radiologist training suite. The NZCMS part of the project includes development of the CERN Medipix technology in association with Christchurch Hospital and the Otago Medical school, as well as completion of the CERN BSC and development of educational resources in medical and high energy physics.
